So excited for our family to keep on growing!

Mini Vacation to Salt Lake

November 15-16, 2014

Brian told us that we could sign up online to drive a brand new 2015 Ford F150 pickup . The pickup has been totally redesigned inside and out, even under the hood, and it is not available to buy yet.  Blake, Randy and Jared all signed up to drive it on November 15 in Midvale, UT.  We decided to make it a little vacation. So, Blake, Randy, Courtney, Jared, Nikelle and I all loaded up in Red about 10:00am on the 15th. We got to the Sportsmans Wearhouse where they had the pickups about 2.

This is the one that Blake drove, it was a very short ride, about 6 minutes, but it was a very nice truck.  The room in the back seat was amazing! Blake really liked the power and how it handled.

After our rides, we went to Iggy's, downtown Salt Lake.  We love Iggy's! We stayed at the Residence Inn, Downtown. We got a movie to watch and just relaxed.

Sunday morning, Jared, Nikelle and Blake and I braved the freezing weather and went to the Tabernacle for the broadcast.  Then, we headed back to the hotel to check out and head for home.  It was a fun little mini vacation.

Transformation Continues - Master Bedroom

Well, we have another room completed! I absolutely love the changes to our bedroom, it is so calm and peaceful.

Before:
I had been a long time since this room had been updated!

Once again, I went to Pinterest for some ideas, here's the picture I used for inspiration.
I love the tall baseboard, and the extended crown molding, and the paint color.

We moved our bed and all the furniture out on Sept. 15th. We put the bed in the small bedroom, it just barely fit!

Randy changed the size of the doorway into the closet, turns out to be a very good decision.  We had to remove all the wallpaper, that is really a difficult process.  We started this process on Sept 26th. My mom brought her little steamer, it worked pretty well, but just did a small area at a time. Blake rented a larger one and it worked better, he was very patient and finally got all the layers off.

Courtney came and helped strip the wallpaper. After the wallpaper was removed, Randy textured the walls. Then the Randy's and Blake started installing the crown molding.

Then, the painting began on Oct. 1st. I know the color is very similar to the wallpaper that was removed, but I love the color! It is a little darker, kind of a teal tint to it. It's a Behr paint called Blue Fox. The carpet was layed on Oct. 13th, and we moved our bed back in on Oct. 16th.  It was very nice to be out of the tiny bedroom. Blake and Randy got the barn door hardware for the closet door hung today, Nov. 13th! I love it!

Now for the after pictures!

I love the tall baseboard that is the same height as the heaters. Randy really had think hard to figure out how to put that all together to make it that tall. I also love the crown molding with the beadboard wallpaper, then the trim below it. I think it looks a lot like the the picture from Pinterest!

Because the bathroom door was moved over about 18 inches, the dresser and TV fit much better.

I love the barn door idea for the closet door, much better than the bifold doors we had before.  And the closet seems bigger because Randy made the doorway smaller. I was able to hang all my necklaces on the new closet wall behind the door.  I love all the white doors. I am so pleased with this room, it is so peaceful and calm and functional too. Thank you, Randy for working your magic and helping make this room exactly what I wanted.

Transformations Begin Again, Part 1

Once again we are taking advantage of my brother, Randy Chambers' rotten luck and terrific talents. He's found himself needing work again, and we need some work done.  We have decided to do some remodeling, starting with the master bathroom. We needed to take the bathtub out and make a walk in shower. We started the process on September 15th, and the master bath was finished today! We have been using it for two weeks without the glass shower doors, we used a shower curtain until the doors could be installed.

Here are the before pictures:

It really did need some major updating! I really was not sad to see that yellow tub go!

Now for the demolition and rebuilding process:

Everything was removed, clear down to the studs. Blake and Randy and Randy C. worked hard. The hardest part was getting the heavy tub out! Pretty much filled the horse trailer with all the mess.

Jared came and wired for the new lights and put a new fan in. My dad came and helped with the sheet rock mudding one day. The huge cupboard that would go behind the door was not going to make the turn into the bedroom, so Blake had the idea to put it through the bedroom window. It had maybe an inch clearance on the top of the window. The Randys and Blake really used their muscles that day.  We decided to have Mickelsen Marble do our huge new shower, and we had to wait for them to come. They also had trouble getting one of the big pieces in and then turned right in the shower. They had to cut it a little, then come back 4 days later to finish.  It all turned into a huge process and waiting game.

Here's a picture I found on Pinterest that I used for inspiration for the sink and cupboard next to it:

Now here are the pictures of the final product! It turned out wonderful! I love it! The huge shower is amazing! I think it all turned out so well, and is so pretty and functional too. I love the tile, and the lights and the color of the shower. I'm not very good at visualizing what it will look like from samples, but I think it turned out great!

It's really hard to get good pictures. These pictures really don't do justice to it.
I love the cubby in the shower for the shampoos and soaps, I also love the bench. I feel like I'm in an upscale hotel! Thank you Randy C. for helping our dream become reality!

Stay tuned, there are plenty more transformations in the works!

General Conference Activity

Courtney and Nikelle decided we needed to get some pumpkins and carve them for a conference activity. So, that's what we did during the afternoon session. We found some patterns online. I think they all turned out really great!

Getting started...
Everybody's working hard...
Finished!

Birthday Boy

September 19 and 21, 2014

Blake turned 59 on Sept. 21st! Holy cow, he's getting old! On Friday, the 19th, his mother and sister Natillie met us at Texas Roadhouse for a birthday dinner.  Blake has always said that he doesn't want a big deal made of his birthday, and not to tell people at the restaurants that it's his big day.  Well, his mom told them, and they came and made him sit on the saddle, while they sang to him.  He was a good sport and even smiled! He told them that he was 60!

Courtney and Nikelle helped make his birthday cake! It's an ice cream cake made with ice cream sandwiches. Sure do love you Blake, even if you are old!

Another trip to Boise

September 6&7, 2014

B
lake and I kind of horned in on a trip to Boise with Jared and Nikelle.  They had tickets to the BSU Football game, and we just went along. We left early in the morning and went to the Boise temple when we got there. Then we went to Cheesecake Factory to eat.  Blake and I just stayed at the Shilo Inn while Jared and Nikelle went to see her Grandma and to the game. We got up early Sunday morning and drove home in time for church. Fun little road trip!

Announcement!

September 3, 2014

Jared and Nikelle announced to the family that they are going to have a baby! Yay! Due April 13!

Labor Day

September 1, 2014 - Labor Day

We kind of ended the summer the same way we started it, fishing! Before we went fishing we decided to go to lunch at McKenzie River, a restaurant in Idaho Falls that Blake and I had not tried.  The food was good when we finally got it almost an hour after arriving at the restaurant. We might have to try it another time and give them a second chance!

The fish were not biting too well, but it was fun family time!

Sprinklers

August 30, 2014

Randy and Courtney had a place in their backyard that needed more sprinklers, so Blake and Jared helped them install them.

They rented a pipe puller (yeah, I don't know what it's called) and it worked really good. They got the sprinklers all in and they work great, much better than using a hose!

Hershey, PA

August 15 - 25, 2014

We've had a trip to Erie, then Hershey planned for about 6 months. Blake and Brian were going to attend an anesthesia conference together.  Blake and I flew out of Idaho Falls on Friday, Aug. 15th.  Brian and his family left Cindy's house on Friday morning, and got home about 4pm.  Blake and I arrived in Erie a little after 10pm.
One good thing about them just having left Idaho was that Annie already knew Blake and didn't have to take any time to get to know him.  Maden's face is very typical if you tell him to smile. I kept telling him that when he's older he'll be sad that he wouldn't smile for pictures.  He doesn't seem to care.
On Saturday, we harvested and washed some produce from their garden.
Blake and Brian had been playing tennis, so we went to join them for a picnic and some playing in the park.
After the picnic, the kids had a little tennis lesson.  Annie doesn't want to be left out of anything, and thinks she can do whatever Maden does.
Saturday night, Brian and Celia went on a little date to see Cirq de Sole and to a street fair, Brian was real happy with his big bag of kettle corn.  It was really good. While they were gone we took the kids to Chic-fil-A, and to Krispy Kremes and to Walmart.
Blake was the designated reader on Saturday night, then the helper to put this huge puzzle together on Sunday morning.
Sunday afternoon, we went for a river walk. Blake found a snake in the grass before we went to the river.  The kids love taking river walks. They took a net and caught some little minnows.
They found quite a few minnows to put in the bucket. The water was cold when you first stepped in, but you got used to it pretty soon.
Annie is quite the trooper in the river. We went to some deeper spots and found more minnows.  It was getting quite late, so Blake picked Annie up to carry her home, so we could go faster. He slipped and fell, neither were hurt, but his leg and pants got all dirty. Annie was not very impressed when they fell. I have to point out the smile on Maden's face! We put the fish in the water table, the kids loved watching them swim around in there.
After the river walk, we came back and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. Maden was shooting some baskets and Annie was doing the hula hoop, she was so funny, she would hold the hoop up and let it fall, then wiggle her hips after it had fallen.
Of course, Annie had to take some selfies.
Monday morning, Maden played the Wii, and Annie cheered him on and sang some songs with Grandpa.
Annie loves babies, she can spot them in a crowd anywhere. And of course another selfie.
We went for a little walk with the wagon and the trike.
Monday  afternoon, we drove to Jamestown, PA to the Pymatuning Deer Park. It is a nice little park with animals to feed and see.
Maden loved riding the see saw, and of course if Maden did, then Annie did too.
Maden got to go on a little horse ride, love the smile on his face because he didn't know there was a picture being taken. Annie loved seeing all the animals and birds.
Maden got brave enough to let the deer eat out of his hand, Annie would pick the corn up and give it to him to feed.

We spent the day Tuesday travelling to Hershey. We drove both of Brian's cars with Blake and I and the kids in one and Brian and Celia in the other.  We stopped in Grove City to go to an outlet mall. It took a little over 6 hours to get to Hershey.  The kids were really good little riders. We stayed at The Hershey Lodge. It was huge with a lot of rooms and restaurants and meeting rooms. It was pretty funny that the shampoo, conditioner, soup and lotion all smelled like chocolate.

Wednesday morning while Blake and Brian were in their meetings we went to check out the miniature golf course at the resort. Maden got a hole in one on hole #4, then I did! The pressure was on, but Celia came through and got a hole in one also!
After golfing, we got in one of the pools. Maden loved swimming around with his floatie. Annie wasn't so sure about the pool and life jacket, but she still smiled and said cheese for pictures.
After the guys got done with meetings, they went to play tennis for a bit while Annie was napping. See how Maden watched tennis? When Annie woke up and came out, she of course had to take some selfies.
We went to the Hershey Tour and took a little train like tour to see how they make chocolate. We had to wait in line a long time because it had started to rain, so all the people in Hershey Park came inside too.
Thursday morning, Celia and I took the kids toThe Story of Hershey and museum.  The kids learned how chocolate was made in the old days with some interactive stations. Funny Annie in the bottom right picture....you were supposed to stand on the little stair and have your chin rest on the top so it looked like you were in the factory uniform. She was too short, but stood there smiling and saying cheese even though she couldn't see over the top.
Brian and Blake played tennis again after their meetings, then joined us in this little spray pool. Celia and Maden had fun dragging Brian into the spray. Annie didn't want to get in at first, then changed her mind and had fun in the cold water.

The grounds of the resort were beautiful, Blake loved these huge leaves. Maden enjoyed playing some games with us in our room.  Annie loved looking at pictures or videos on my phone on IPad.
Friday morning we went to Zoo America Hershey. We decided that Maden really doesn't like zoos all that much, but Annie loves them. I'm glad those bears are not real, they are pretty big. Annie and Maden seemed to have grown some antlers!
Friday afternoon, we went to the Hershey Gardens. They have some beautiful gardens, along with a butterfly house and a children's garden. The fountain with ball was very interesting. There was a place that you could make music by hopping on the squares. Maden really enjoyed that.  They had races between the rows of flowers.
We tried to take a family photo, but they turned out a little blury. That makes me sad.
Saturday morning, Celia taught the kids how to play shuffle board.
Annie got tired of the shuffle board, so we went over to the play ground. She was determined to climb up by herself, and she did! She got pretty good at it too.
She sat down in this little circle and it turned into an impromptu photo shoot. Isn't she just the cutest little bug?
We went back to the mini golf in the afternoon. Maden got another hole in one, then Celia did too. Brian got three! Blake finally got one!
Brian and Blake had to try their hand at shuffle board too. There was a lot of fun things to do at the resort.
Sunday morning, Blake and Brian left their meetings about 9:30, so we loaded up and headed back to Erie. We followed Brian all the way. Maden was hiding under his blanket so I couldn't get a picture of him, but I caught him, even with a smile! Of course Annie wanted to have my phone so she could take her own selfie.
When we got back to Brian's we had to look at all the pictures that I took while I was there.

We had a great time, it was fun for Blake and Brian to attend the conference together and be able to talk about the things they learned.  It's always such a treat to spend time with Maden and Annie. It's always hard to say goodbye. We flew out early Monday morning and are not sure when we will return to Erie, it might be next May when Brian graduates.
